Founded by Dr Sam Prince, an award-winning humanitarian, philanthropist, entrepreneur and doctor, Mejico takes market-fresh produce and turn it into some of the finest Mexican food on offer in Sydney. The tequila bar is not to be missed! If you’re visiting on the weekend, it’s also worth checking out their bottomless lunch events and tequila masterclasses.
Situated above Newtown station, the menu at Calaveras draws inspiration from central Mexico where the owner Gerardo Macip was born and raised. The interior decoration is traditionally inspired and full of Mexican charm, featuring ‘Día de Muertos’ or ‘Day of the Dead’ murals on each side of the expansive tequila bar. The Ceviche de Pescado and the range of $5 tacos are hard to beat.
Carbòn Mexican Wood Fire, Bondi
Using traditional Latin American roasting boxes and charcoal grilling, the menu at Carbòn, is designed to be shared. Try the ‘Make Your Own Taco’ menu and get stuck into designing your own flavour combinations. And why not give the Jalapeno margarita a whirl, it’s a house favourite.

A fusion between a traditional and a modern take on Latin American cuisine, Tequila Mockingbird celebrates cultural history from the Mayans and Aztecs, to African and Asian influence. Check out the tasting menu to explore the full range of tastes on offer.
